Robin Hood Guest Poll. RESULTS!

The most popular guest character in episodes 1 - 8 of Robin hood series 2 were:

1. Matilda the Witch.

Matilda won 36% of the votes, and rightly so. Where would a good Robin hood story be without a little superstition and witchyness? In fact, I'd like to see a lot MORE stories with some kind of superstitious or Pagan content. Remember, many people believe the roots of the Robin Hood legend come from Pagan beliefs in "the Green Man".

2. Count Fruitcake (Count Freidrich).

The Count won a staggering 25% of the vote! It must be something to do with his romantic charms…

3. Carter the Crusader

Carter won 21% of the vote. A very respectable result, and a popular character should he ever decide to return to the outlaw gang.

More polls in the future, Hoodies!

I chose Carter. He was such a complex character. At first you thoguth he was gonna be this cardboard assasin, but he developed so well.

I agree. But I did think that fight went from anger to tears far, far too quickly. Good actor though. He really captured one's attention.

Hmmmm. maybe you can do another poll(Guest char.) after s2 has aired outside of the UK.

just a thought, since some of us(outside of UK) are willing to wait till s2 airs in our country.

Count Fruitcake sure sounds like a good bet.

just a thought.

Hi Heather,

I think people must be having a laugh, 'cos when Count Fruitcake (real name Count Freidrich), actually turned up in episode 2, nobody liked him!

As regards your other idea, yes it would be good to keep going when its on in the States, Canada, and Australia.

At the end of series one we kept going for quite some time, as well as all the other Robin hood blogs linked here.

One thing for certain. The legend never dies.

It was hard to chose, to be honest! We've had some great characters. It's too bad we couldn't rate each one instead of just voting for just one, because I've so many close seconds!
I had to vote for Matilda the Witch though - because she was just *so* hilarious.
Carter captured my attention, Daniel was the cutest wanna-be Robin and the Sheriff's sister was creepy.
It seems Count Fruitcake has really earned his new name. I can't even remember his real one now. I can't believe how many votes he has! But he was certainly hilarious.

Right now the BBC must be on the phone to Count Fruitcake asking him if he wants a series of his own!

Robin,
There's this girl on You Tube who does reviews - her name's "Eevee" and she did a review of Robin Hood last year for series 1 that fans and critics alike loved (I don't know if you've seen it).
This also kicked off her doing dozens of reviews of different shows, and that has become quite popular.
She did another one this year for series 2 - coming full circle.
At first she was a critic, and now she says she loves it and finds it "endearing.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP5GDaS1r_M

Anyways, the point is that I found it interesting that she says she "goes to Nottingham," quite regularly and even lived there for awhile.
She mentions that Nottingham is really a lot dirtier and that in modern day Nottingham, you're just as likely to get knifed.
Would this be a correct assesment of Nottingham now?
What is Nottingham like these days?
Would Robin's comment "This is Nottingham, there is no other kind of play" apply?

Emily

I wasn't impressed by her presentation. All amateur cliché style and no content; a typical fault with YouTube. Someone aught to buy them all comfortable chairs. Or check for hemroids.

Saying that "Nottingham doesn't look like that" is to make a statement, the crass stupidity of which beggars belief. Hello, it's the 21st century.

Discussion about what Nottingham actually looked like in Robin Hood's day, what the Sheriff of Nottingham's duties would have been, how the Saxons and Norman's were situated in close approximation to each other, and the fact the original Castle pre-dated Hollywood style stone constructions, is dealt with throughout my other blogs. The fact that the Nottingham in the TV series, and other interpretations, doesn't necessarily adhere to historical fact is because of something called "imagination".

Regarding the crime in Nottingham. Yes, it is a concern that the murder rate in Nottingham is alarmingly high. (Guns and knives). I think it's one of the highest, if not the highest, in the country.
