Robin Hood and his Outlaws

Robin Hood and his diminished band of Outlaws as they stand at the end of Robin Hood series two: Robin Hood (Jonas Armstrong), John (Gordon "he'll always be Little to me", Kennedy), Much (Sam "don't call him servant", Troughton), and Alan A Dale (Joe "wanna buy a dodgy motor?" Armstrong). Okay, so Will Scarlett was off the roster, but everyone here loves Harry, so I included the picture. (Sorry Djaq!)

You can find earlier versions of Robin Hood and his Outlaws on this link.

Hi Hoodies,

You know, what will be interesting to see, is exactly how the dynamics of this cast change if and when we get into Robin Hood Series 3.

There's no doubt the younger members of this cast really seized the opportunity Robin Hood presented to both more establish themselves, and develop their craft. And now there are quite a few gaps to fill…

How do you think that will impact??

Hi Robin-
As you say it will be interesting to see how the new series pans out One thing is certain, Robin desperately needs more men so maybe some more new actors will be brought in to try and fill the gaps which will be a good thing.

More storylines could be woven around the new people and even the established ones could have some new stories a love affair for Much (Eve).
It is so frustrating to have no news I do wonder why there is all this secrecy don't you? and of course there does need to be some more GIRLS!! just to make everything more interesting!! .

I wonder if Harry/Will is coming back he could return quite easily the story lines are endless for him to do so, I can think of quite a few.

FWIW: Richard Armitage posted a funnily cryptic note on his website that made it sound like he's back in Budapest, filming ahead of what was assumed to be the scheduled May start date.

And Keith Allen said on a talk show recently that he "thought" they were aiming for a five-series deal for the show and that they're moving a lot of the work back to Britain. That said, Keith Allen's been known to, well, lie on talk shows.
(It's the "This Morning" download.)

Not that any of that tells us what direction the story is going to go in next season, but it's at least kinda/sorta news.

Hi Robin-
Been thinking a bit more about the show whilst I was at work!!(like one does).
If we really wanted to move the existing characters on a bit we could have Allan's wife turning up looking for him. He could very well be married he has lied about just about everything so that really wouldn't be too far fetched and Little John wife and child could come back to him for any number of reasons. Little Little John misses his dad Alice misses him or the other chap ( can't think of his name ) dies, and of course there is still the Robin/Guy scenario that has to be solved plus as I say some new men with their own stories to tell.

I do feel that it needs to be opened up more don't you? If it is going to survive for another 13 episodes, it has to be given more depth.

Hi Evielyn,

I'm looking forward to new actors, and I hope they cast as well as last time.

But I'd also like to see some of those "guests" return. In particular, I'd like to see Matilda back. It would be good to see a "witch" in the series on a regular basis.

Yes it is frustrating to have no news. But when filming is underway we will surely know something, if only who's present. I can't be the only one who's thought of e-mailing the pub Gordon Kennedy mentioned in his interview, the one where they all hang out? Someone must be able to find out if Lucy is there or not…

With regard to Harry, I remember someone saying he's thought to return half way through; but who knows?

But I'd rather see NEW characters than search too deeply in the past cast lists to see what lurks. I'm expecting series 3 to be the groundwork for a Robinless 4.

Hi dcwash,

And thanks for the links. The R Armitage one is a tease, but obviously whatever the plot lines are he would have to be secret. I don't think it necessarily means anything about Marian… Intriguing though. I like it that he's joining in the fun in that way, and that he has such respect for his fan base that he takes the time to do that. Precious few do. Nice one R A!

But you're right about Keith Allen. Take his chat show appearances with a huge pinch of salt.

...Much (Sam "don't call him servant" Troughton)....hehehe, I've just seen that episode (I live in N.Z.)and think that line was quite funny!
...and Alan A Dale (Joe "wanna buy a dodgy motor?" Armstrong....
Can't wait for you to write another post.

Hi anon.,

First of all you're far too kind. (But thanks).

And secondly, it is hard to post anything new in the current climate of "secrecy and subterfuge". As I've said before, those fan sites devoted solely to Lucy must really be feeling disappointed at the lack of news, especially when compared to R A's generous attitude of sending his fans a message.

Thanks again.

I know about the Glasgow thing . There are several fim crews up here just now. One of the films invoves dead people -Zombies or something similar -one of the actresses looks very like Lucy Griffiths-but then lots of people look like lots of people . Robin Hood is not being moved from Budapest - they have a full set out there. What i find more interesting they have called on the writers for season three-

Hmmm? I'm not sure what you mean by that. I think they may have announced some of the writers for the Season 3 episodes; I know they've announced two new producers. What I'm trying to remember is if the new writers are the ones who wrote some of my favorite episodes of Season 2, or if was the new producers who produced those particular episodes. Whichever it was, it gave me hope.

Oh, and I may have been one of the ones who contributed to the Anjali-is-pregnant rumor. Though, in my defense, I quite loudly stipulated in my LJ comment that it was all rank speculation. Watching Season 2, it seemed to me that her body shape gradually changed in the later episodes, and changed in the same way women's bodies change in the early stages of pregnancy. Other people said they had noticed the same thing, and said it looked to them like the costume department was dressing her in such a way as to disguise those changes. IF--and, as I said, it's all rank speculation and not based on any firsthand knowledge--that was the case, it made the decision to leave Djaq behind in the Holy Land much more sensible from a staffing point of view, and made the out-of-the-blueness of the last few minutes of the last episode a little more understandable, seeing as how they had to come up with a last-minute adjustment to the script.
